About the author

Harvey Aronson, Ph.D., M.S.W., is a psychotherapist and teacher of Buddhist psychology. He works with spiritually minded clients in his private psychotherapy practice in Houston, Texas, and teaches courses at Rice University Continuing Education on Buddhist meditation and its relationship to physical and mental health.
Aronson is the founding codirector of Dawn Mountain: Tibetan Temple, Research Institute, and Community Center in Houston, Texas. The center’s mission is to preserve and present authentic traditional Buddhist practice while investigating ways of making it accessible to modern Westerners. This theme, the subject of Buddhist Practice on Western Ground, has been acknowledged for inclusion in the Ford Foundation program on Religious Pluralism in the United States, and was supported by a two-year research grant (1999–2001) from that organization.
